The 14th Annual Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament kicks off this week with fishing starting on Thursday 19th March, 2009. This is the next event to contribute valuable points to the Caribbean Watermans Challenge 2009. Caribbean Waterman is working closely with TIGFT to bring you regular updates on the fishing action. Captain Adam Conyers along with crew members Andrew Crooks, Gordon Dalgliesh and Ryan Farah of Team “Luhr’d Away” (36 ft Luhrs Sports fisherman) were victorious in the recently concluded Beacon Insurance Wahoo Tournament (other sponsors included Copy-Rite Copy Paper and Casfab Ltd.) held at the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club on March 7th and 8th 2009.
If Anthony Wilmot, better known as Billy Mystic, had not ever learned to swim or had never fallen in love with the ocean, his musical talent and accomplishments would have been enough to dub him a legitimate Caribbean Legend. During his 30+ years of playing reggae music as the leader of the world renowned band Mystic Revealers, he has rubbed elbows with the likes of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and produced timeless classics like Album “Space and Time”.

The winter season of 2007/2008 dragged on with lackluster surf and no swell events of note blessing the Caribbean Islands. Then, nearing the end of the season, in late in March of 2009 the swell charts came alive with a series of predictions the internet generation of swell tracking guru’s had never before been privileged to see.
When the Sport Fisher “Magic Lady” left the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club (TTYC) last September (2008) on a 235+ mile jouney to St.Lucia for the St.Lucia Billfish Tournament, the were on a mission! The crew of experienced watermen onboard the vessel owner by Francois “Frank” Moutette and captained by past TTGFA marlin record holder Nicholas Telfer had spent all year preparing for battle.
Happy New Year to all. The SATT had a very busy 2008 and will be kicking off 2009 with Surfer of the Year/National Team Trials- Event 1 on Sunday January 25th.
